Submitting your polished work to Viewless Wings opens the door to your poetry (and your voice!) being featured on the Viewless Wings Poetry Podcast and published on ViewlessWings.com. We recommend listening to (and reading) successful submissions from other poets (Six Poets Recite and Moon Inspired Poems), and our interviews with accomplished poets including A.E. StallingsSafia Elhillo, Yanyi, Olivia GatwoodRegina Harris BaiocchiCutter Streeby and more. We read all submissions.

Submit your best work for the opportunity to perform live, in-person, at the annual City of Dublin, California Splatter Festival Poets Take the Mic event, on Saturday September 14, 2:30pm. This will be the fourth time poets have been invited to perform at Splatter.

Splatter is an annual, all-day event in Dublin, California. Immerse yourself in Dublin's diversity with an array of arts and crafts activities celebrating the many cultures represented in the community. Poets Take the Mic returns for a fourth year with a 45-minute performance on the Side Yard Stage. Excerpt from Poets Take the Mic: https://youtu.be/Kc7wSZUP39o

Seven selected poets will each perform five minute sets. James Morehead (Poet Laureate - Dublin, CA) will host the event and also perform.

Previously published poems are acceptable as long as the submitter retains all publishing rights. All poems must be originally in English, and human-generated.

Important rules for this opportunity:

  • Selected poets must be available to appear in person on Saturday September 14 in Dublin, California (Emerald Glen Park), and arrive no later than 2:00pm for a sound check. Poets residing in Dublin, California and surrounding East Bay cities will be given preference, but all San Francisco Bay Area poets are welcome to apply. Poets Take the Mic has a 45-minute time slot from 2:30pm to 3:15pm on Splatter's Side Yard Stage.
  • Submit a five minute set consisting of one or more poems - submit your best, polished, performance-ready work.
  • Submit a recording (audio or video) of your five minute set.
  • Poetry must be suitable for all ages and a public setting (no profanity or inappropriate content).
